The Expanded Gameplay III mod is a sequel to the Expanded Gameplay II mod, which was created for beta version of Mount&Blade. As such, it retains the ideas from EGII which I still find good, and has new ideas of its own. EGIII is not created as a port of EGII to the new version of Mount&Blade but is being written from Native M&B.

The mod has several goals. How well they are achieved is up to you to judge and help improve with your suggestions.

Firstly I wanted to replace the old M&B items that I was very used to seeing everywhere (like falchion, leather jerkin, plate armor), add new items and create a new stylish look for all the troops and factions. So the mod contains many great new items created by the community and redesigned factions to give each one more of a unique personality. It also has some new minor factions and troops that were first introduced in Expanded Gameplay I or II.

Secondly I wanted to bring the combat engine of Mount&Blade closer to its full potential. I find that the troops and items in Native M&B can be adjusted with stats to create a more exciting combat atmosphere where AI troops behave more intelligently, pose more of a threat to the player, keep you on your toes, and generally make things a lot more interesting. To make the battles even more dynamic this mod introduces combat abilities for the player to use. They add a certain tactical element to the battles and also play a role in different character development routes.

Thirdly I wanted to make choices of character development direction, character equipment, party composition, and play strategy to be more dimensional and less linear than in Native, where a Heavily Armored Mounted Archer with a large weapon is the most powerful combination and most characters will gravitate towards it. In this mod the choices between footman or mounted character, archer or thrower, mace or sword, light armor or heavy armor, large party of weaker troops or smaller party of stronger troops are all more viable and as a result gameplay is deeper. This is achieved with completely and carefully redone item stats, varied starting characters, introduction of combat abilities that depend on different attributes, design of AI troops, redesigned armor behaviour, introduction of charm items. Because this mod also allows the player character to die, the choices you make do matter.

I also want to improve the behaviour of AI troops on the battlefield and make it more varied than rushing towards the enemy. The AI troops already fight better and more intelligently thanks to increased parameters, and their behaviour can be affected by the player using certain combat abilities. Furthermore, I would like to design more of a collective strategic AI behaviour. A simple start to this that is already implemented is squad-like behaviour initiated by elite AI troops that keeps the troops from scattering and being picked off one by one. I would like to introduce more things in this direction.

Lastly, I want to implement a storyline that will be moved along with quests and passing of time in-game that would allow the player 'beat the game', or perish in trying. This is planned and will hopefully be added in the future. As an example of what I mean, in Expanded Gameplay II mod the overarching quest for immortality played this role, was very difficult to complete and doing it forced the character to play through the whole game.

2. Player equipment weight affects weapon proficiency, especially for archery and throwing.
This is a very important feature that, coupled with removal of battlefield chest, makes equipping your character a much more interesting and significant task.
4. Heavily armored AI troops (chainmail, mail and plate, and plate armors) cannot run.

Chance of death is much greater (possible only after level 7), but can be reduced with Ironflesh and Wound Treatment skills. Play more carefully, or at 1/2 or 1/4 player damage!! If you die and become fallen it will be a difficult task to come back to life!

Changes
1.Some tweaks in character creation menu (more "go back", gender dependent character types).
2.Information about mod, abilities now can be found in camp menu.
3.Keys setup in camp menu allows rebinding or completely unbinding keys used for abilities. To use, you should click on ability then press new key to reassign or 'esc' to clear binding. List of available keys is large enough. You can use all characters, numbers, arrows, functional keys. Probably you can even bind shift or alt, but I didn't test that. There is no check for overlay. It should crash if you bind to abilities on 1 keys or bind game control key to ability, but I am not responsible for how it will work.
4.Now there is only one tutorial screen in battles (toggle by 'm' by default). It shows current active binds for available abilities. So if your character doesn't have 14 str it does not show rage. If you clear binding for battle cry it also does not show battle cry.
5.Add access to inventory, character and party screens in sieges and join to battle menus. (As it is in simple battle menu, keys I/C/P if someone forgot)
6.Fallens now do not show their faces in conversation, and they burn.
7.Change flame. I tried to make it looks not so heavy, more "ethereal". It now more tight even if character is mounted. It is still high but there is no more burning ground. It also fades then fallen is killed.
8.Fix never-mind errors that reded start of battles.
9.Fix exploit that allows making abilities bonus permanent. (Technically, replace triggers with direct call in battle_debrief menu).
10.Replace Valkyrie(?) mode with free fly.
11.Increase overall skill limit from 12 to 13.
12.There is no more triggers that reduce forbidden skills. Instead, forbidden skills cannot be developed at all (almost at all).
13. To return to life it is need to carry fallen mask (just block possible cheating here).
14.Journal's price now growths over time. Also if you keep you journal it shows current proficiency penalty ( in inventory point on it with a mouse).
15.Reduce amout of troops that required for reinforcement (it still more than in native).
16.Remove experience drain.
17.Increase experience for trophy trading. War trophies now also gives renown. Epic trophies gives experience, renown and honor.
18.Change khergits troops. They now have horses and bows. Elite now wear armor not ragged outfit.
19.To get charm of fear it is required to capture two bear clan leaders from one migrating bear tribe alive.
20.Change some parties (pilgrims, travel mercs). Reduce amount of prisoners for parties that spawn with prisoners.
21.Add neutral healer. Sword sister. They are probably most deadly healers.
22.Fix tab exploit.
Expanded Gameplay III v0.95e patch
Fixed bug of player unable to use his chest in a captured castle.
-Fixed bug of Repeating Crossbow being unusable in 0.95d.
-made fallen parties slightly more rare
-gave Vaegir special arrows that are high damage but low ammo. They now cannot sustain fire nearly as long as Khergit archers.
-reduced base ransom amounts by 50%, but Prisoner Management skill now increases ransom amount by 25% instead of 20% per skill level.
-reverted Khergit warriors and guards to foot soldiers. Kept scourges dressed in heavy armor.
-removed experimental Inventor troops from the game.
